Anti Dentite

I went to my dentist this morning.  It was a very unusual experience.

Scene:  Me, business casual. Darby, hygienist, pink scrubs, bleach blond hair, jewels.

Darby (yelling down the hall): "Where we goin tonight Donna?"  (keep in mind it is 8:23am)
Hygienist (yelling back): "Anywhere that has margaritas!"
Darby: "I want a margarita for breakfast!"
Me:  what?
Darby (to me): "You ever go out for Cinco de Mayo?"
Me (while biting down on some metal dental gizmo): "uhh yeah"
Darby: "You goin out tonight?"
Me (wiping the spit from my chin): "Uh, I guess, depends on the weather."  (Depends on the weather? What?  I know, I just didn't know what else to say at that time)
Darby: "Yeah we'll probably go out right after work, in scrubs and all.  That way we won't stay too late.  Though that may mean we go out early and stay out late of course. I'm known to always be the last one standing at the bar - I'm like, Oh, it's 3am? And I have to work tomorrow?  This is a bad idea."

Ok lady, yeah, and get a little closer to my gums with that extremely sharp and pointed instrument.

After the denist comes in and pokes around, Darby tells me that I'm free to go because they couldn't fit me in for a cleaning.  Now I'm no denist, but I thought it was pretty standard to have your teeth cleaned, you know, when you go to the dentist for a teeth cleaning.  Call me crazy.

Creation

Last night my friend Joe and I created the best milkshake I've ever had: A Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake. Joe had it at the Good Stuff Eatery in Washington, D.C.  It's so easy to make and I promise you will not be disappointed

Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake: Serves 4

1/2 bag of small marshmallows
2 c. milk
1 Tbsp of sour cream
1 c. vanilla ice cream

Grease a baking pan, and spread a layer of marshmallows.  Put in oven and set to broil, until they are charred (2 to 3 minutes).  Take out to cool.

In a blender, pour in milk, sour cream, ice cream, and charred marshmallows. Mix for 5 minutes.  Pour in large glass and serve!  You can top the shake with more marshmallows, but I thought that was overkill.

Joe and I also came up with the idea of putting in a little chocolate sryup and topping with graham crackers...YUM.

Fun Fact:  This recipe was created by chef Spike Mendelsohn from Good Stuff Eatery in celebration of President Obama's inauguration!

If you're looking for me, you'll never find me in any of those locations.  Thank you for taking the time to click all those links.  Now I must go!

If it can't be done in flip flops, it's probably not worth doing. (and other reasons a ponytail holder is never necessary)

If I were to write a book, the title would be "If it can't be done in flip flops, it's probably not worth doing: And other reasons why a ponytail holder is never necessary".  So it's only fitting that my blog be of the same name.

I've been thinking about starting a blog for a bit now.  Truth be told, I don't think anyone really cares about my day to day life, ie, what time I got up, what I did after work, what deals I got at the grocery store.  But now that I'm joining a few FSU coworkers in the May Blogger Challenge and I know I will have a captive audience of at least 5 people, I've decided to give it a shot.  As I said, my life isn't interesting so I'm not going give you an hour by hour update of my life.  I don't know what I'll write about, but most likely it will be the following:

Things this blog will not include are the following topics:
or, This

Much more to come - I'm pretty set on winning this May Challenge.  I'll probably need to enlist some help of my favorite blogger, Mary Beth.  Here goes!
